It has a distinct conical bell-shaped cap, growing up to an inch across. They are yellowish to brown in color. When the cap is moist there are visual radial groves that correspond with the gills. The gills are pale brown becoming darker with age & sometimes lighter edges numbered at 15 & 27. As they mature, they fade to a lighter color. The stipes are the same color as the caps, but slight lighter. Growing 1-6” tall, sometimes thicker towards the base. It produces a very thin cobweb like veil that tends to quickly disappears with age. In the northern hemisphere it is seen from Aug-Nov & May-June. In the Southern Hemisphere, April-May & Sep-Oct. Tryptamine content ranges from 0.25-3% dried. Found in grasslands, meadows & pastures. Lookalikes; Pholiotina rugosa & Galerina graminea.
